Jeremiah Deng
My vision is to
pastor, teach, preach and live out the Christian life that will in turn
build up every believer so that they can be equipped for God’s
service.
I believe my calling at this point of time is to pastor and to build up
the Chinese congregation.
I accepted Christ as my Lord in 1983 at a Religious Emphasis Week at
St. Andrew’s Secondary. I was then invited to attend Church of
the Ascension, and I have been richly blessed by the different people
of the Church. In 1991 the Lord opened the door for me to be in
full-time ministry at Ascension and I gladly answered and have been
serving ever since. My Christian training includes Tung Ling Bible
School Regular Course, our own Diocese’s Teaching programmes,
Diploma in Child Psychology, and I also spent two years in USA doing a
Diploma in Practical Theology. I am currently pursuing a correspondence
Bachelor in Arts majoring in Bible and Theology with Global University
(USA).
After leaving the Sunday School Ministry in July, I have been more
involved in the Chinese Congregation. I preach monthly, conduct weekly
Bible class, teach in the Chinese cell group that runs fortnightly. I
render pastoral care, do visitation and conduct Holy Communion to the
house-bound.
With the English congregation, I am involved with the Love Potong Pasir
ministry such as visiting the residents. I am in-charge of the planning
and running of Sparklers Club. I attend PP2 Cell.
I am also involved with the Ascension Kindergarten and Ascension
Kindercare ministries. I conduct assembly for the children twice a
week, share with the teachers fortnightly, and attend some of their
functions/ outings on an ad-hoc basis.
