Darren Choo

All of my life, I have grown up in St Hilda’s Church – baptized, confirmed, married and served full time in ministry since 1994. In 2002 I embarked to further my studies in TTC and returned for a second spell there.

I have been married to my wife for the past 13 years and have 3 lovely kids. Reading, watching movies and having a cup of coffee are things that I enjoy most.

I loved sports especially soccer and rugby and Liverpool will never “Walk alone”! (Sorry, only football fans will understand this.)

Cassandra, is my gentle and caring wife. In her own quiet nature, she enjoys getting to know people and making new friends. Her hobbies are reading especially on topics relating to Christian literatures and educational materials. She is more of an indoor person except when it comes to shopping as it is one way that helps her to release stress. She teaches at St. Hilda’s Primary School and specializes in the teaching of Science. Her passion for her subject and her love for children keep her motivated to become a better teacher each day.

Gabriel, 9, is our oldest and is studying in St. Hilda’s Primary School. A gentle and quiet boy. Gabriel is by nature an indoor person who prefers reading and watching television to sports and outdoor games. He enjoys music and likes to play the keyboard and blowing the recorder in addition to singing. Swimming and jogging are his favourite sport activities. Like his mother, he aspires to become a teacher when he grows up. Gabriel is a caring brother.

Bethany, 7, our daughter just entered Primary 1. Unlike us, she is an extrovert and enjoys all sorts of sport-related activities. She is vocal and is able to grasp new things well. She loves swimming and is also learning ballet and playing the keyboard. Doing art and craft is her favourite pastime.

Jeriel, 2, is our special boy. He has Down Syndrome. His arrival into our family has changed our perspectives of life. He has taught us to treasure life and not to take things for granted. Most of all, he has taught us what it means to trust our lives into the Master’s hand and to live each day by faith. Jeriel has been attending the early intervention programme at Balestier Special School since the age of 8 months. He had several medical conditions and has been healed of them ever since. His physical and mental developments are slower than normal children. We are pleased with his developments and progress so far. The older siblings love him and take such good care of him. He is well-loved by all his family members and everyone he meets. He is so adorable and cute. Such JOY.
