An ALL-in-ONE Holiday at Perth, Western Australia
(Toa Payoh Homecell)

It’s been almost 6 months since our holiday, but I can clearly remember what makes this vacation so different from others – Understanding the different needs of people. This quality takes time, especially so when we have 13 adults, 3 children and 2 toddlers. It is further complicated by the fact that everybody wanted to have a great time – according to his or her own definition. But I believe this time proven quality has brought all of us much closer to each other. As Esther puts it, new friendships were forged while others were renewed.

Everyone had different ideas about an ideal holiday. This was clearly evident in our stay in Perth. Some of us preferred shopping to sightseeing while others were willing to spend a lot more time on wine tasting. Then there were others who were perpetually late or lost (I never did find that out). Nothing however beats navigating in a city in three huge vehicles in evening rush hour traffic. But through it all, God’s hand was there on all matters. We had to deal with a confrontation, but by grace, it led to a better understanding each other’s behaviour and abilities.

I want to thank God for his hand in all matters, especially for

  • the clearance of our Electronic Travel Documents (we were the last folks on the plane)
  • my dad attending church (and I wasn’t even getting baptised or confirmed)
  • Phoon’s integration to the cell (my colleague and new church member). He overcome his fear of fishing tackles and later went on to catch a large rainbow trout
  • learning that you have to be prayer specific (we prayed for no rain when we were in Albany’s "wave formation wonder", and God answered our prayer resulting in NO waves and NO wave formation wonder)
  • substantial savings from our proposed budget at no expense to our well being (we even stayed at some fantastic places)
  • the warmth of "fat-llowship" and home cooked meals
  • our sleeping arrangements (you’ll get the idea when I say that ALL families took turns to have sleepovers with Esther)

Truly, this ALL-in-ONE holiday was held together by the almighty ONE. It was crucial that our day was covered by a prayer blanket every morning, night and wherever Kia Wang or a designated person prayed. We welcome anyone who wishes to join us on our next holiday together as a homecell.
